About the Author

Lauren Eileen

Lauren Eileen searched in vain in children’s literature trying to find herself, and her LGBTQ+ community, represented on the page. So, she wrote the kind of inclusive and loving stories she sought, using her more than forty-year real-life friendship with Valerie as a foundation.

She lives with her teenaged son, Anthony, in Massachusetts, where they enjoy staying active. Her favorite thing to do is laugh.

Lauren and Val Take a Walk is her first book.

Eileen was my maternal grandmother’s name, and is my mother’s middle name, my middle name, and the inspiration for my author name.

I have a teenaged son named Anthony. He is the light of my life.

I’m an avid reader. My favorite book of all time is East of Eden by John Steinbeck.

Lauren and Val Take a Walk is one of many true stories from my lifelong relationship with my friend Valerie…we met in kindergarten, and she’s been the wind beneath my wings ever since.

I came out to the world as a lesbian shortly after my 45th birthday, however I have always identified as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.

My favorite season is summer and I hope to live by an ocean someday.
